Power Moves ATL community development

Our story

Building power in the community

Power Moves ATL is an Atlanta-based nonprofit dedicated to developing small businesses and strengthening the communities they call home.

How it all started

Power Moves ATL was founded on a straightforward idea: small businesses are the backbone of Atlanta's neighborhoods, and they deserve real support. Too many entrepreneurs had the drive but lacked access to the resources, networks, and guidance needed to grow sustainably.

As a nonprofit, we exist to close that gap. Through hands-on programming, mentorship, and community partnerships, Power Moves ATL helps small business owners build the skills and connections that turn big ideas into lasting impact.

What we stand for

Empower entrepreneurs

We equip small business owners with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to grow on their own terms.

Community first

Strong businesses build strong neighborhoods. Everything we do is rooted in the communities we serve.

Intentional impact

We focus our resources where they matter most — supporting underserved entrepreneurs across the Atlanta metro.

Inclusive by design

Every background, every industry, every stage of business. Power Moves ATL is built for all of Atlanta.

Founder & Executive Director

"Small businesses don't just create jobs — they create identity, pride, and possibility for entire communities. Our job is to make sure they have every chance to succeed."

Joe Gresham Chappelle is a Atlantan transplant by way of NYC and Florida. This community advocate has over two decades of experience in economic development and small business support. Frustrated by the barriers facing local entrepreneurs, Joe founded Power Moves ATL to create a nonprofit that delivers real, practical resources — not just inspiration — to the people building Atlanta's future.
